”It was the best experience I have ever had” were the words overheard in the bus. The words belonged to a teenager from Seini Agricultural high school who participated in the intercultural activity Ukrainian Folk Art workshop held within the project "Culture in the mirror - restoration of bay house in Seini (RO) and concert hall in Kalush (UA) into multicultural centers" between July 5-8, 2021 in Kalush, Ukraine.

The participants to the workshop were students and children – all were involved in the workshop by singing Ukrainian and Romanian songs. These children vibrated like the strings of the bandura musical instrument when they performed. All of them were impressed of the fact that they could perform songs in the language of the partners without actually speaking the respective language; they were able to dance and enjoy their own and the partner’s  beautiful folklore, while finding common elements too.
Besides a series of cultural meetings and events, withing the project two buildings will be rehabilitated: the concert hall in Kalush (UA) and the Bay House (Romania); works for the two buildings are 70% completed already.

This project addresses such problems as poor quality of the existing local cultural infrastructures, low degree of cross-border intercultural engagement and low touristic attractiveness of the region delimited by Seini (RO) and Kalush(UA).

Project duration - 24 months. EU contribution - 933,373.42 €.
